Doug Brin is 64—but admits to 60. He is an artist / writer / journalist / teacher who’s had five or six careers, who’s counting? His illustrated journals span 40 years and represent a veritable history of our times. His children believe he’s technologically hopeless, but are kind enough to love him anyway.
Doug wrote features for New York’s Daily News on politics and show business. He also taught at tony private schools like Dalton and Ethical Culture. He claims to be interested in any topic, with the exception of football and the space program. He can name the Vice Presidents—let alone the Presidents, but is rarely asked to do so.
Currently, Doug facilitates discussions of current events for seniors at such venues as the 92nd Street ‘Y,’ the Carter Burden Luncheon Club, and three independent living centers. Topics range from Mayor Bloomberg to immigration to mass transit.
Ever the optimist concerning the future, Doug tries to stay exceedingly productive, and out of trouble. He has no television, but avidly follows the follies and foibles of this world on the internet, The Times, and The New York Review of Books.
